Projects in the Pipe line
- Livelihood support for war widowed families. The project addresses the issue of the disruption of livelihood activities of women who have lost their husbands during the war and resettled in the North and East of Sri Lanka. Project Objective.
- To assist 15-20 women headed families to manage their income via starting the livelihood activities such as agriculture and livestock on a revolving basis.
- Promote links between micro enterprises units and women headed families and facilitate the sustained market and raise household income.
- Women’s Project in North and East – essentially war widows. Our plan is to work closely with these women, teach them about management of money and loans, building their skills, helping each one to work on an income generating activity suitable to her capabilities. The Council hopes to empower the widows to become self-sufficient.
For this we need to employ a trainer on a monthly basis paying him/her a salary of at least Rs15,000. This person would be sent to different areas in the Northern and in the Eastern province and work with the women in our peripheral units, form them into self-help groups named as Mangaiyar Manrams, train them in micro finance, entrepreneurship and help them to be on their own. We would help them to get involved in some income generation activity, help the women to get loans from the Bank.
We request the well wishers to donate as much as possible for the above mentioned projects.
