HELP FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
A request was made by the Vanni MP to help school children who have lost their mother or father or both in continuing their education without disruption. These children were selected from 29 villages from Mullaitivu District. The children have to be provided with exercise books, instrument boxes, pen & pencils, school bags and shoes.
All the materials for the children were bought in Vavuniya and transported to Selvapuram in Mullaitivu and kept at Pre-school Hall belonging to Yooda Kovil. The President of Hindu Council Of Sri Lanka travelled from Colombo to Vavuniya and then along with Co-ordinator and other helpers reached Mullaitivu on the 8th of September 2014.
After the speeches by the various officials above mentioned items were distributed to 122 children only from that area.
On the 18th September further 98 children were given similar items at Divisional Secretariat Office, Manthai East, Mallavi. Our Vavuniya Co-ordinator represented HCSL at this function.
We wish to thank Kaveri Kalamanram operating under the guidance of Friends of Australia and other donors for having funded this project for helping the helpless children of Mullaitivu District and hope they would continue to help our community in the future too.
