LOANS TO WIDOWS IN MANNAR

 LOANS TO WAR WIDOWS FOR LIVELIHOOD ACTIVITIES
 
With a view to earn an income by widows of the North & East  for their livelihoods  and live without depending  on others, organisations or the Government, Hindu Council Of Sri Lanka has granted interest free loans to them to start livelihood activities such as sewing, home gardening, shop keeping, rearing of cows or goat. These loans are to be repaid over a period of two years on a monthly basis.
 
On the 11th December 2017 Office Bearers visited  Mannar and loans were disbursed in kind(not in cash) to 10 selected widows. All arrangements and selection of families were carried out by our coordinator in Mannar.Some of the items like sewing machines, water pumps, goods for the shop were handed over at Annai Illam in Uppukulam in Mannar. Cow, goat, barbed wire and water tank(plastic) were delivered at the beneficiaries homes.
