There are a large number of widows in Mullaitivu who are unable to eke out a living for want of support for livelihood activities. Therefore Hindu Council Of Sri Lanka(HCSL) decided to grant interest free loans of Rs.30,000/- to each of 10 families selected. They were granted loans for purchase of chairs for hiring, accessories for sewing, goat farming, poultry farming and shop keeping.
On the 15th of July 2018, President and other office bearers of HCSL visited Mullaitivu and handed the items required in kind to the widows from Mulliavalai in Mullaitivu for them to commence their livelihood activities. They have undertaken to pay the loans in 15 installments beginning from end of October 2018.
