MOONRAMPIDDY PILLAIYAR TEMPLE.
MOONRAMPIDDY IS A VILLAGE IN MANNAR DISTRICT ABOUT 25 MINUTES DRIVE FROM THIRUKKETHEESWARAM TEMPLE ALONG THE MANNAR TO JAFFNA ROAD. IT IS A FISHING VILLAGE AND CONSISTS OF ABOUT ONE HUNDRED FAMILIES. THEY DID NOT HAVE A HINDU TEMPLE FOR THEIR RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES AND THEREFORE SOUGHT THE ASSISTANCE OF HINDU COUNCIL OF SRI LANKA(HCSL) TO CONSTRUCT A PILLAIYAR TEMPLE ON A LAND ABUTTING THE MANNAR--JAFFNA ROAD.
HCSL ASSISTED A COMMITTEE THAT WAS FORMED AMONG THE VILLAGERS TO OBTAIN FUNDS FROM DEPARTMENT OF HINDU CULTURAL AFFAIRS. SINCE THE FUNDS OBTAINED FROM THE DEPT. WAS INADEQUATE HCSL ALSO MADE THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS AND IN ADDITION A PHILANTHROPIST CAME FORWARD TO DONATE ENOUGH FUNDS TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE.
AFTER COMPLETION MAHAKUMBABISHEKAM WAS HELD ON THE 7TH FEBRUARY 2020 WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF THE VILLAGERS, OFFICE BEARERS OF HCSL, AND THE PHILANTHROPIST.
